When: Mondays by appointment only 10am - 4pm
Where: Pen Green Centre, Pen Green Lane, Corby. NN17 1BJ

An exciting project Pen Green Centre for Children and their Families. In partnership with IPSEA they are able to offer legally based information and next step advice on any educational issue that is the result of a child’s SEND. They are offering free 30 minute sessions with an IPSEA lawyer regarding special educational needs and/or disability in education. Sessions are available by appointment on Mondays. The lawyers have requested that referrals are received by Thursday prior to the appointment to ensure there are no conflicts of interest, in certain situations they would be willing to see parents on a drop-in basis, providing there were available slots.

Magda, a PhD student, is researching the understandings of relationships and sexual health among people with learning disabilities and views of their parents. She’s interviewing people with learning disabilities to find out their level of knowledge about the subject, where any confusions lie, and what their needs and aspirations are. There’s also an on-line survey for parents of disabled children to explore their views.

She hopes that her study will hope that my research will help schools and government design better interventions, educational programmes and support for parents. Everyone who completes the survey and leaves their email address will be entered into a prize draw for £50 M&S voucher.
