Parent Groups... Some Helpful Tips and Tricks...

If your child is unable to cope in a busy shoe shop
Ask them to stand on some thick card and draw around their feet, allowing a little extra room for growing. Cut out both feet with scissors. Take both  feet card cut outs to the shoe shop and place inside the shoes to see if the shoes might fit your child. Not ideal, but far less stressful than a huge meltdown in a busy shop!

For when learning to ride a bike
Put a rubber band of their choice (those colourful ones with mottos or organisation names on them!) and explain that that hand must ALWAYS be nearest the kerb!! That way, your child learns the correct side of the road to ride on!

Positive behaviour techniques
This revised edition of the award-winning 1-2-3 Magic program addresses the difficult task of child discipline with humour, keen insight, and proven experience. The technique offers a foolproof method of disciplining children ages two through 12 without arguing, yelling, or spanking.

By means of three easy-to-follow steps, parents learn to manage troublesome behavior, encourage good behavior, and strengthen the parent-child relationship - avoiding the 'Talk-Persuade-Argue-Yell-Hit' syndrome which frustrates so many parents.

Ten strategies for building a child's self-esteem and the six types of testing and manipulation a parent can expect from the child are discussed, as well as tips on how to prevent homework arguments, make mealtimes more enjoyable, conduct effective family meetings, and encourage children to start doing their household chores.

New advice about kids and technology and new illustrations bring this essential parenting companion completely up-to-date. Amazon DVD/Book link: 1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12 (Advice on Parenting)

ADHD Support
A good explanation regarding ODD (oppositional defiance disorder) is discussed, this is a very difficult side to ADHD and can be hard to treat. It is so informative and enlightening. It is also witty and engaging. More than 'Food for thought'. Its very long but you can pick it up anywhere along the line and hear in-depth, interesting facts about ADHD OR EFD (Executive Functioning Disorder) with a clear explanation.
